Bauchi govt set to employ qualified teachers

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has expressed his government's determination to improve the condition of tertiary institutions in the state. 

Governor who stated this yesterday during the 2018/2019 matriculation ‎ceremony held at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi pledged to ensure timely release of funds to education sector in order to fast track the desired result needed.

Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Sabi’u Baba who represented the Governor at the occasion disclosed that the state government will ensure total reformation of the education sector in the state through massive recruitment of teachers to fill in the existing gap.

Governor Bala who said his government ‎will pay priority attention on vocational education as part of efforts to provide the required manpower in the state added the resolve of his administration to declare state of emergency on education sector in the state became imperative due to the challenges bedevilling the sector.

Bauchi State Governor appraised the management of the Polytechnic for ‎attaining a remarkable achievements in the area of complementing the efforts of government towards the provision of qualitative education to students.

Earlier on, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Sulaiman Muhammad Lame told the governor that the current management under his supervision has successfully mobilized its scarce human and financial resources to attract students enrolment into the institution.

‎"Since its inception in 2015, the present management of the Polytechnic has successfully mobilized the scarce human and financial resources of the institution to achieve 100 percent accreditation of all its courses", Dr Lame Explained. 

He Stated that the Polytechnic is also running short term professional courses in science technology and vocational programmes at certificate level to assist students become self reliant and useful members of the society or proceed further their studies.

Dr Lame said the institution will cooperate with the present administration in order to achieve programmes that will enhance youth and women development in the state.

The Rector said that the Polytechnic has faced challenges of staffing, equipping and funding since its establishment about 30 years ago with the resultant negative effect of producing Ordinary Diploma graduates who were hardly accepted for admissions in other institutions nor offered employment in most federal organisations.

"We have transformed from one accredited ND computer science to accreditation of 116 courses at National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, Nigeria Certificate in Education and to a large extent, Degree levels . Dr Lame said.

Head line gathered that no fewer than five thousand newly admitted students of the Polytechnic were matriculated for the 2018 /2019 academic session in the polytechnic.
